Artisanal mining in Yanaquihua

Proyecto AMACCI

Together with the Association of Artisanal Miners of the Ispacas Peasant Community, we drive the legal sale of ore, safety in operations and the traceability of gold.

At Minera Yanaquihua we work hand in hand with the Association of Artisanal Miners of the Ispacas Peasant Community (AMACCI), our strategic partner. Through the AMACCI project we give artisanal miners the opportunity to sell their ore legally and in line with current legislation. We hold agreements with the association, advise them on regulatory changes and support them in filing documentation with the authorities.

As of the end of February 2026, 74 AMACCI members successfully completed their formalisation process before the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM). This result reflects the joint work between the Company and the members to carry out responsible artisanal mining within the Peruvian regulatory framework.

We classify our partners according to their stage of formalisation. First, those in the process of formalisation, who hold a current registration in the Comprehensive Mining Formalisation Registry (REINFO) and have submitted their Environmental Management Instrument for the Formalisation of Small-Scale and Artisanal Mining (IGAFOM), both preventive and corrective. Second, formal miners, who hold a resolution to start or restart operations. Finally, miners with ordinary authorisation, who hold an Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) or a Semi-detailed Environmental Impact Study (EIA-sd).

The project includes four management initiatives. We guarantee the traceability and legal origin of the ore through the LBMA Toolkit standard of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), which aligns our partners with international requirements for trading gold. We strengthen the culture of safety and prevention at the mining camps with training in safety, emergency response and the environment, within a technical support programme for 2026. We maintain the vehicle access roads to ensure connectivity to every collection area. We also provide high-quality personal protective equipment (PPE) to AMACCI members twice a year.

Through this project the artisanal miners of Ispacas gain legal access to market their ore, work in safer conditions and generate formal income for their families.
